PORT HARDY DIVES
[Barkley Sound] [Victoria & Sydney] [Southern Gulf Islands] [Nanimo]
[Northern Gulf Islands] [Sunshine Coast] [Vancouver Area]

Great visibility (to 100 feet ) and warm weather combine to create optimal diving conditions in the Port Hardy area. Marine life in this area includes soft corals and sponges, tame wolfeels, plus phenonemal concentrations of almost every other species of vertebrate and invertebrate life found in temperate waters. Some say it is the most beautiful diving (cold, or warm water) in the world! We dive with dolphins regularly, spring and fall! Visibility in March-April & Sept.-Dec. is 30'-100' with water temperatures of 6C(43F) to 10C(50F), while from May to July visibility ranges from 20'-50' with water temperatures from9C(48F) to 12C(54F). Above the water there are Pacific Whitesided dolphins in groups to several hundred and over 100 resident killer whales. Regular sightings of Dall's Porpoise, Harbour Poropoise, Minke Whales, Stellar Sealions and harbour seals make this "marine mammal heaven"! Occasional sightings of Humpback and Grey Whales, and hundreds of marine birds including eagles, puffins and dozen more species keep our eyes wide open between dives. Beach hikes, old Indian villages, and chains of untouched islands make this area as good as it gets anywhere in the world!
